Filmtastic!

Day 01 – Favourite foreign film
Day 02 – A film that is underrated
Day 03 – A film that brings you unadulterated happiness

Day 04 – A film cliché that you love:

Public Dancing

I alluded to this on Friday, but I’ll say it again loud and proud now:

I love dancing and I love it when people dance in films, particularly in very unrealistic situations.

I know lots of people who find this annoying. They get frustrated at the fact that music seems to come out of nowhere. They also seem to get annoyed at the way that the characters all suddenly know the same choreographed routine. No one does that in real life.

Well I wished that people did that in real life. Dancing is so much fun. Unfortunately the real world isn’t like that; instead I must live vicariously through musicals.

Bollywood films also have wonderful dances!
Here, hundreds of high schools students break it down simultaneously in Main Hoon Na, just like real high school students.

The main characters from Singing in the Rain have solved a difficult problem, so they dance to celebrate!

High school again! The amazingly choreographed graduation dance at the end of High School Musical 3.
If only school was really like that.

Steson, I have you to thank for that experience!
Have you seen any other neat Bollywood movies? Recently I saw something called “Hey Baby”, which had a very entertaining story, but not very interesting songs and dances.

Just saw Hairspray for the first time last night and LOVED it! I, too, love musicals. I love watching them and performing in them. And when someone asks how everyone knows the words, the answer is just, “It’s a musical. *shrug*” That and willing suspension of disbelief. (Some people have trouble with that, I guess…perhaps the same people who have trouble with sci fi and fantasy because it’s not “real”? Perhaps. I haven’t done any correlation studies. 😉
    Anyway, love your examples! 😀
