Happy Episodes

Upon hearing that I have never read Wives and Daughters my friend Amelia practically forced the novel into my hands. She and Bron demanded that I read it and keep them updated as I progessively get hooked. Stay tuned. Livejournal just might be the right forum for that kind of thing. Also, thanks goes out to my mother in law, who has been slowly paving the way for me to develop into a full blown Elizabeth Gaskell fan.

Last night my inner amateur conductor “went to town”. I was listening to Percy Grainger’s Mock Morris and then Molly on the Shore in the car on the way home. I just couldn’t contain myself. Those horns!

It’s time to start exploring new territory in my bible reading. I have never made it through Ezekiel from beginning to end, so here goes. I started it this morning and it was incredibly weird and wonderful. There were impossible beasts, and wheels. And God was described to look like “the appearance of the bow that is in the cloud on the day of rain”. I am intrigued.

There are 50 49 bags of Lady Grey tea in my desk drawer today.

I listened to W&D on audiobook a year and a half ago, and LOVED it. I got home and read the last few chapters online because the narrator read too slowly. Someday I’ll read Cranford (already read N&S) but my pile of books is too big already.

I read W&D last year, but I didn’t enjoy it as much as the other Gaskell novels I previously read, N&S and Cranford. I don’t really know why.

Love your comment about the Lady Grey tea bags!
